Aligned to UN SDGs 3 (Good Health & Well-Being), 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), RBPN, Vestas, and ASA Foundation have collaborated to improve the level of STEM, Circular Economy, Life Skills and Gender Equality education for vulnerable youth by launching a long-term, sustainable Social Intervention program for junior high school teachers and students across Garut, West Java, Indonesia.
Supported by the Education Office in Garut Regency (Dinas Pendidikan) and Dispora (Dinas Pemuda dan Olah Raga) Garut Regency, and hosted at the Fave Hotel and Kerkoff field complex under strict COVID-19 prevention protocols, the 3-day Training of Trainer (ToT) workshop trained and empowered 20 male and female local junior high school teachers to become ASA Foundation educators.
On completion of the ToT workshop, the teacher trainer beneficiaries are tasked with educating and empowering their male and female school students on Sports-based STEM, Circular Economy, Life Skills, and Gender Equality education activities through weekly extracurricular school training activities. Furthermore, ASA Foundation will conduct weekly mentoring together with monitoring and evaluation activities to assess the program impact with regular school visits. The project is geared towards long-term sustainability beyond the program completion date with the stakeholders’ architects of the design process. The programming activities are estimated to reach out to over 3,000 students with 52% female participants.
“Vestas is proud to partner with RBPN and the ASA Foundation, for this Social Intervention Program,” said Frank Sine, Vice President of Development in Vestas Asia Pacific. “We believe that through this program, it will empower the local teachers and students in Garut Regency in more ways than one. Vestas remains committed to engaging the communities that we are present in and this program demonstrated in a tangible way how our outreach initiatives can impact the local community in a positive way.”
RBPN Director, Agung Hermawan is delighted with the social impact of the program and stated: “RBPN and Vestas are fully committed to the development of clean wind power energy across the region in West Java, and this CSR social intervention program, in partnership with the ASA Foundation, has allowed us to successfully use the power of sports to deliver knowledge and learning skills for students and teachers in West Java. We are committed and will invest to further develop these CSR programs, combined with our wind power projects in the region.”
