Caterpillar Foundation & ASA Foundation STEM Education for Vulnerable Youth across Indonesia

11 June 2025

Empowering Futures Through STEM!

Over the past 2 years, ASA Foundation and Caterpillar Foundation have teamed up to transform STEM education for vulnerable youth in senior high schools across Batam and Klapanunggal, Indonesia - and the results are nothing short of inspiring with 260 teachers and 49,508 students educated and empowered!

This high-impact initiative brought hands-on learning and innovative teacher training to senior high schools, making STEM not just a subject, but a launchpad for young futures.

What changed?

1. 85% of teachers enhanced their STEM teaching skills
2. 100% of trained teachers now lead weekly STEM sessions
3. 87% of student groups showed real improvement in STEM knowledge
4. 100% of students actively engaged in dynamic, weekly STEM learning.

The success doesn’t stop here. The Ministry of Education (DINAS) will continue to champion this program within schools. Meanwhile, ASA Foundation will maintain active mentoring and support through our online teacher forms platform, ensuring continuous monitoring, evaluation, and teacher guidance beyond the classroom.

This is more than a project — it’s a sustainable movement driving educational transformation from the ground up.

Huge thanks to Caterpillar Foundation for making this vision a reality - and to all the teachers, students, and communities who made it thrive.

From classrooms to career paths, STEM is shaping the next generation of leaders - and we’re just getting started!
