On 21 May 2026, ASA Foundation successfully conducted a S.A.F.E. (Sport Against Female Exploitation) School Visit at SMPN 35 Jakarta, bringing sport-based education directly into the school environment to promote gender equality, respect, and youth empowerment.
The session was led by ASA Foundation’s Master Coach, Coach Tian, and supported by Ibu Dewi Masyitah, the school’s Physical Education teacher. A total of 35 students consisting of 18 boys and 17 girls actively participated in a series of interactive and inclusive learning activities through basketball.
Throughout the session, students engaged in basketball-based drills and team challenges designed not only to develop their physical skills but also to strengthen important social values. Through sport, participants explored key S.A.F.E. themes, including gender equality, the prevention of violence and exploitation, teamwork, leadership, mutual respect, and positive communication.
By encouraging equal participation among boys and girls, the activities helped challenge stereotypes surrounding gender and physical ability while creating a safe and supportive environment where every student had the opportunity to contribute, lead, and learn together.
The S.A.F.E. project continues to demonstrate how sport can serve as a powerful tool for education and social change. Through school visits like this, ASA Foundation remains committed to empowering young people, promoting inclusive communities, and preventing gender-based discrimination and exploitation through meaningful sport experiences.
Together, we are creating safer, more equitable spaces where every young person can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.
